If masks useful for COVID-19

Wearing a face mask is certainly not an iron-clad guarantee that you won't get sick – viruses can also transmit through the eyes and tiny viral particles, known as aerosols, can penetrate masks. However, masks are effective at capturing droplets, which is a main transmission route of coronavirus, and some studies have estimated a roughly fivefold protection versus no barrier alone (although others have found lower levels of effectiveness).

If you are likely to be in close contact with someone infected, a mask cuts the chance of the disease being passed on. If you're showing symptoms of coronavirus, or have been diagnosed, wearing a mask can also protect others. So masks are crucial for health and social care workers looking after patients and are also recommended for family members who need to care for someone who is ill – ideally both the patient and carer should have a mask.

Why do Chinese wear face masks? why do Japanese wear face masks?

In fact, a mask is useful for the coronavirus. Chinese epidemic has been effectively controlled due to the promotion of wearing masks.

I think these messages should go louder.

  1. Wash your hands - But for no less than “20 sec”. 20 sec is very important here as it’s clinically proven that 20 sec or more in soap water removes the virus from hands. In-fact washing your hands is more significant than hand sanitizers.
  2. Social Physical Distancing is essential in current circumstances but Virtual Social gathering is open for all and in fact essential too. Keep calling and making video calls to know well-being of your friends/family loved ones. Don’t let anyone feel isolated and depressed. If you know anyone even remotely and they don’t have someone to look after, talk to them.
  3. Avoid touching your face, but take special care of your T-shape i.e. Eyes, Nose and Mouth. These are the most common entry points for viruses to make you the host.
  4. Stock your daily essentials to stay isolated but don't stockpile unnecessary items and think of others in need like Medics, Older people. In the UK people bought £1 billion of food in three last week.
  5. You may be free now but keep yourself busy at this time. Enjoy your indoor hobbies and develop new ones, spend time with children, decorate your house etc. Just be busy and happy.
  6. Virus will end it’s own death as our bodies will go immune. The world is not going to end, so don’t panic, don’t take any additional stress.
  7. Keep yourself fit. Exercise at home go for running/walking. The healthier you will, less would be impact of any virus.
  8. Educate others. Some people get some sensational information from the internet and start sharing and misinforming others as well. This is the time we educate others.
  9. Follow medical advice in your area and WHO guidelines globally. WHO and almost all Governments are giving regular updates on the situation. Follow them very strictly.
  10. Be happy and relaxed.

We will come across stronger than ever before and together we will beat this pandemic. Cheers.
